The Legacy Campus

H+L Hospital Exterior #2_Small-DCD0F1A9AA3FA474

As the replacement hospital project gains momentum and we look forward to moving to the new campus, there is interest in what will happen to the current, legacy campus.

The Lutheran Hospice will remain on the legacy campus. West Pines Behavioral Health, in partnership with Acadia Healthcare, is planning to relocate and build a new facility in the northwest metro area with expanded services about the same time as the Lutheran move to the replacement hospital.

In 2021, SCL Health, now Intermountain Healthcare, partnered with the City of Wheat Ridge and a third-party consultant to undertake a master planning process. That process was completed in the Fall of 2021, with community input and approval from the city’s planning commission and city council.

There is no further update on the disposition of the property at this time, and it is too soon to know the future of any of the buildings on the Lutheran Legacy campus. The redevelopment of this 100-acre parcel in the heart of Wheat Ridge offers a tremendous opportunity for the City to build a bright future for the benefit of its residents and neighbors, while maintaining respect for the history and legacy of Lutheran's role in the community.
