Good Samaritan Medical Center Named one of the Best Maternity Hospitals in the Nation

Lafayette, CO - Today, Newsweek named Good Samaritan Medical Center as one of the Best Maternity Hospitals in the nation. Out of thousands of hospitals in the United States, only several hundred are named to this list each year.

The Best Maternity Hospital list is compiled by Newsweek based on indicators measured by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization focused on safety and quality in US hospitals. To make the list, hospitals must demonstrate excellence in maternity care, which includes low rates of C-sections, episiotomies and early elective deliveries. Research-based best practices must be implemented for all maternity care as well.

“We are so honored to be entrusted with helping moms and dads welcome their new babies into the world,” said Mary Beth Deines, Chief Nursing Officer at Good Samaritan Medical Center. “It is a privilege we take very seriously. We ensure that we implement the latest research and best practices in our care and listen closely to our families’ wishes so they can have the birth experience they desire.”

“Every birth is special,” said Tonya Chapin, Nursing Director of The Baby Place. “Every time we hear Brahms Lullaby play across the hospital to signify a birth, we stop and celebrate the miracle of life and the great job our teams have done ensuring a safe and supported delivery. This award belongs to our amazing frontline teams.”

According to Newsweek, “The facilities cited by Newsweek as Best Maternity Hospitals 2021 are an elite group demonstrating excellence in maternity care.”
