A Thank You to the Dedicated Blood Donors in Our Community
Billings, MT - A Message to St. Vincent Healthcare Associates and the Billings Community
In recent weeks, the St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation has challenged our community to support blood donation in an effort to combat the increasingly diminishing local blood supply as a result of canceled blood drives in the wake of COVID-19. While the Foundation was happy to provide raffle prizes as incentives, ranging from flatscreen televisions to Crumbl Cookie coupons, the real winners are our patients.
The response to this unprecedented threat has been overwhelmingly supportive and helpful - but certainly not surprising. Through collaboration with Vitalant, and with support from Mayor Bill Cole, our neighbors at MSU-Billings, Superintendent Greg Upham and the School District #2 employees, City Administrators, members of the Montana Officials Association, Faith Evangelical Church, City College, and small businesses throughout our community, we have experienced tremendous success that we should all be proud of. We are a community that cares and that has never been more apparent than it has been these past couple of weeks.
In addition to the support that we have received from the community of Billings, our associates, Marketing and Communications team, Blood Management Coordinator, Melissa Siemsen, and Regional Emergency Management Manager, Dave Nordel, have shown tremendous passion toward raising awareness for the critical needs surrounding blood donation. These blood drives would not be possible without the commitment of our community leaders and organizations that agree to roll up a sleeve for patients in need.
