The summer of 2024 may seem like a long way off, but as we watch the new Lutheran Medical Center rising out of the ground at Clear Creek Crossing, the opening date is starting to feel like it is right around the corner.
The last, topmost steel beam will be placed during the second week of February, marking the ceremonial “topping off” of the new hospital building. In keeping with construction tradition, Lutheran caregivers will have an opportunity to sign their names and other messages on the beam before it is placed at the top of the steel structure.
Thanks to the planning and foresight of our construction partners, progress on the replacement hospital is right on target and has not been affected by recent supply chain issues.
Plenty of construction activity is happening around the site. Parking lots are being laid out, and a medical office building is in the early stages of planning.
The Clear Creek Crossing development is also preparing to welcome one of the first businesses to open, the Foothills Credit Union. The credit union will be opening its third branch and new corporate office in late February. It will be full-service, including drive-up banking and an ATM.
SCL Health recently announced its intent to merge with Intermountain Healthcare. This process may be finalized by late spring 2022 and will bring together two strong and stable healthcare systems to better serve patients, caregivers and the communities in a six-state region. SCL Health is committed to building the Lutheran replacement hospital at Clear Creek Crossing and moving forward with the redevelopment of the current Legacy Campus. The merged systems will continue to support both projects.
We look forward to watching the construction progress of the new hospital over the next 18 - 20 months. You can watch it too on our website: TheLutheranLegacy.org.
