WHEAT RIDGE, CO (Nov. 1, 2019) – Lutheran has received certification from DNV GL-Healthcare as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, reflecting the highest level of competence for treatment of serious stroke events, and the ability to provide 24/7 advanced stroke care for the most complex of cases.
Certification from DNV GL-Healthcare is based on standards set forth by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association and affirms that Lutheran can address the full spectrum of stroke care from diagnosis and treatment to rehabilitation and education.
“As a Primary Stroke Center for more than 10 years, Lutheran has gradually increased its capabilities to care for serious stroke cases,” said Grant Wicklund, President and CEO of Lutheran. “In recent years, we have introduced several advanced programs and technologies to care for those experiencing stroke, including a biplane 3-D imaging system. The biplane system assists physicians in locating blockages that cause ischemic stroke and identifying aneurysms that cause hemorrhagic stroke, in order to better diagnose and treat various neurological disorders.”
Lutheran has invested significant resources to advancing stroke care in the community, leading to national recognition for positive patient outcomes. Lutheran has some of the fastest treatment times in the metro area, and was among the first few local hospitals to offer intra-arterial therapy for large vessel occlusion strokes as well.
“Comprehensive Stroke Certification reflects a team effort of our neurosciences service line, the entire hospital and our community partners to ensure the health and safety of our patients,” Wicklund added. “We are pleased to be recognized for our continued commitment to providing the highest quality stroke care to the community.”
