We’re committed to keeping children as close to home as possible to heal. That’s why we have a hospital within our hospital just for kids. St. Vincent Children’s is the regional leader for pediatric care, offering access to highly trained experts and advanced technology.

We understand the importance of caring for children close to home. Our pediatric specialists travel to outlying communities regularly to meet with families and diagnose and treat kids. These visits are called outreach clinics. In many cases, you may follow up with the doctor via video chat so you can avoid an extra trip.
No parent wants their child to be in the hospital. But, if yours does need to stay overnight for illness, surgery or treatment, the pediatric team at St. Vincent Children’s is ready to serve with compassion and expertise.
Our 22-bed pediatric unit, located on the fourth floor in St. Vincent Healthcare, is staffed by trained and certified pediatric nurses, doctors, specialists and therapists.
In collaboration with Zoo Montana and San Diego Zoo, each room on the pediatric floor features a dedicated zoo channel, delivering educational and entertaining material to children and their families and providing a welcome distraction from tests and treatments.
We’re home to Montana’s first and only PICU staffed 24/7 by pediatric intensivists.
The PICU is where the most critically ill children stay, including those with unstable, chronic and life-threatening conditions. Our specialized doctors and staff use state-of-the-art monitoring, medication and treatment techniques to care for PICU patients.
If you are outside Billings, our PICU staff works with pediatricians in the region over video (telemedicine) to discuss the best treatment options for your child.
Our PICU nurses are trained in pediatric critical care nursing and certified in advanced life support (PALS) and emergency pediatrics. Many also are certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
The five-bed PICU will undergo a complete renovation, which will include private patient rooms, to be completed by December 2017.
