No parent wants their child to be in the hospital. But if yours does need to stay overnight for illness, surgery or treatment, the pediatric team at St. Mary’s Medical Center is ready to serve with compassion and expertise.
Our pediatric unit, located on the seventh floor in the Medical Center, is staffed by trained pediatric nurses, doctors, specialists and therapists. To keep your child as close to the nurses as possible, there is one nurse station for every two rooms, instead of one central station. All beds are approved I-beds, or intermediate level beds. If your child needs a higher level of care, we are trained and equipped to serve.
Our pediatric unit includes kid-friendly décor, in-room TVs and a bright, cheerful playroom stocked with toys, games and e-readers to make your child comfortable and help take their mind off their illness or injury.
Outpatient pediatric services
If your child requires regular treatment and services like blood draws or infusions, you don’t have to drive to Denver. Located right inside St. Mary’s pediatric unit, you can receive the care you need Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.to 4:30 p.m., with flexibility. All our nurses are pediatric chemotherapy certified.
Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)
If your baby is born prematurely or has complex medical needs, they will be monitored and cared for in our Level IIIB neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This advanced NICU provides access to pediatric sub-specialists, surgeons and anesthesiologists.
Our full-service transport team is ready to respond to a large referral area in western Colorado and eastern Utah.
