Imaging Center of Excellence

St. Mary’s imaging services are accredited by the American College of Radiology as a Center of Excellence, which means we meet or exceed the highest standards in patient care, safety and outcomes. We strive to achieve the lowest doses of radiation possible, with your safety in mind.

Breast imaging

The Wilma B. Bacon Mammography Center is the only American College of Radiology (ACR) accredited imaging center in western Colorado. Located in St. Mary’s Medical Pavilion, the Center offers specially-trained breast patient navigators who support breast cancer patients from diagnosis to recovery. Our team uses 3-D technology, the gold standard in mammography.

Additionally, every mammogram is examined by a board-certified radiologist and is also scanned by our computer aided detection (CAD) system called the ImageChecker®. When used together, these two systems increase the identification of suspicious tissue that otherwise may not be detected. The earlier a cancer is detected, the sooner life-saving measures can be taken.
