CMU Undergrad Internships

undergrads (1)

Since 2009, St Mary’s has accepted 1-3 interns from Colorado Mesa University each year.  The internships typically last for 9-12 months:

  • Social Work and Counseling Psychology. Our interns work directly with our behavioral health team to establish goals for the experience.  Most interns participate in a combination of group facilitation, care coordination, and behavioral health consultation.  We provide at one hour of individual supervision and one hour of group supervision each week.  These interns are required to be enrolled in a CMU practicum during the semesters of their internship.
  • Exercise Science Interns. We partner with CMU’s Exercise Science program to provide hands-on experience in leading group exercise.  These activities are part of our “Healthy Habits” group which provides a whole-person intervention for improving lifestyle and managing weight.  The interns are supervised by Dr Carmine Grieco (CMU faculty) to develop exercise lesson plans that are appropriate for older adults with multiple chronic illnesses.  Currently the groups are scheduled on Tuesday mornings from 9-11:30.
