Residents are encouraged to participate in clinical and basic research projects throughout their training. Each resident is assigned to a Faculty member who is available to assist in developing projects. Saint Joseph Hospital has opportunities for physicians to conduct clinical research (see figure below for available resources.) For those residents interested in the basic sciences, research may be conducted through our relationship with National Jewish Health, or through our affiliation with the University of Colorado.
Residents who perform research are given the opportunity to present their work at multiple venues. Residents are given financial support and coverage to be able to present their work locally, regionally, or nationally. Residents most commonly present their scholarly work at The American College of Physicians (ACP), Society of General Internal Medicine, and Hospital Medicine Symposium meetings. Over the past 20 years, Saint Joseph Hospital has an outstanding track record for being selected to present at the National ACP Meeting.
