Bruner Family Medicine

The Bruner Family Medicine Clinic is a busy, full-service family medicine clinic with a diverse patient population. We are a NCQA Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home focused on providing care for all individuals regardless of ability to pay for services. We are committed to caring for the underserved and many of our patients have limited access to care. Approximately one-third of our patients are uninsured and unable to obtain health insurance, 45% have Medicaid, 16% are commercially insured, and 14% have Medicare. We have a large number of bilingual employees and medical interpretation services are also available to help us care for our patients.
We are currently in the process of applying to become a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike - Uptown Community Health Center. We anticipate this will happen late 2022. As an FQHC Look-Alike, we operate under a governing board that includes patients. We teach and use a team based approach to care, encouraging all of our care team providers to work at the top of their licenses. You will work alongside medical assistants, care managers, clinical pharmacists, a registered dietician, registered nurses, diabetic educator, addiction counselor, and clinical psychologist.
We focus on providing residents training in an innovative model that is designed to teach them skills to care for patients in a wide variety of future practice environments. We offer a number of specialty clinics which you will rotate through during training. These provide an in-depth exposure to certain patient populations, conditions and procedures. You will also see many of these patients in your own clinic and be able to perform many of these procedures as an upper level resident. Our specialty clinics include:
- Gynecologic procedures
- Sports medicine
- Senior clinic
- Surgical procedures
- Obstetric ultrasound
- Colposcopy/LEEP
- OMT (osteopathic manipulative therapy)
- PharmD clinic
- MAT (medication-assisted treatment) clinic for substance use disorder
We teach and use a team based approach to care, encouraging all of our care team providers to work at the top of their licenses. You will work alongside medical assistants, care managers, pharmacists, dietician, registered nurses, diabetic educator, and behavioral health providers, including our clinical psychologists.
We have an active and involved patient advisory board that meets monthly. They have been integral to improvement efforts in the clinic.
