Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

Good Samaritan Medical Center is proud to have received an 'A' grade in Spring 2022 from the Leapfrog Group for Hospital Safety. The Leapfrog Group is a Washington D.C.-based organization aiming to improve healthcare quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Leapfrog Group assigns letter grades based on numerous health care quality measures. Other SCL Health hospitals to receive an “A” grade include Lutheran Medical Center, Saint Joseph Hospital, Platte Valley Medical Center, St. Mary’s Medical Center, and St. Vincent Healthcare.

Magnet Accreditation

Good Samaritan received accreditation from the prestigious Magnet Recognition Program® in August 2022. Magnet Accreditation is the nation’s top honor for nursing excellence, quality patient care, and innovations in practice. Only 9.4% of U.S. hospitals have achieved this designation. Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado also received accreditation from the Magnet Recognition Program® in May 2017 and was re-accredited in 2022. St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colorado received accreditation in January 2022, St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, Montana received accreditation in September 2021, and Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado received accreditation in September 2020.

Baby-Friendly Hospitals

Lutheran Medical Center, Saint Joseph Hospital, Good Samaritan Medical Center and St. Vincent Healthcare are all designated Baby-Friendly under the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative, a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The initiative encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. Based on the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, this international award recognizes birth facilities that offer mothers the information, confidence, and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies or safely feed with formula.

U.S. News & World Report - Best Hospitals For Maternity

Good Samaritan Medical Center has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top maternity hospitals in the country. According to the ‘Best Hospitals for Maternity’ list published by U.S. News & World Report, four SCL Health Colorado hospitals were deemed “high-performing” in maternity care. The list compared high-quality labor and delivery services for uncomplicated pregnancies. Out of 2,700 hospitals nationwide that offer maternity services, U.S. News & World Report identified 237 that earned recognition among the ‘Best Hospitals for Maternity.’

American College of Cardiology: Chest Pain - MI Registry™ 2022 Performance Achievement Awards

Lutheran Medical Center is proud to have received the Chest Pain - MI Registry™ award in 2022 from the American College of Cardiology. This award program was created by the American College of Cardiology to recognize hospitals that have top-level performance in their care of patients while adhering to their specific guideline recommendations. American Heart Association Recognition

The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognized Good Samaritan Medical Center, Saint Joseph Hospital, Lutheran Medical Center, Platte Valley Medical Center, and St. Mary's Medical Center with Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, Target Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll, and Target Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll awards for their continued success following guidelines to speed recovery and reduce death and disability for stroke patients. 


NAPBC Accredited Breast Program

As an accredited program, Good Samaritan Medical Center follows a model for managing the breast center to ensure multidisciplinary, integrated, comprehensive breast cancer services. We address the full continuum of cancer – from prevention to survivorship and end-of-life care – while addressing both survival and quality of life. The NAPBC seal of approval ensures that our patients will receive high-quality care for breast disease.


Commission on Cancer Accredited Breast Program

Good Samaritan Medical Center meets the high standards set forth by the Commission on Cancer in order to improve survival and the quality of life for patients with cancer. We have developed effective educational interventions to improve cancer prevention, early detection, cancer care delivery, and outcomes.


EPA’s Food Recovery Challenge

In 2022, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized the innovative achievements of only 18 businesses across the nation that participated in the EPA’s Food Recovery Challenge in 2020 and 2021. Good Samaritan Medical Center’s Nutrition Services team was honored as a national award winner for its efforts to prevent food waste to help combat climate change.


Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Colorado Healthy Hospitals Compact – Platinum level

This recognition supports Good Samaritan Medical Center’s health initiatives that protect and promote the health of hospital patients and their families, visitors and caregivers, and work to build a culture of wellness that contributes to the state’s goal of making Colorado “the healthiest state.” Three hospitals in Colorado received this recognition.


Excellence in Robotic Surgery

Good Samaritan Medical Center is an accredited Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery. This accreditation distinguishes Good Samaritan from other surgical facilities, recognizing that Good Samaritan provides the highest quality of care to patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation from the Surgical Review Corporation.

Epic Honor Roll

Epic Honor Roll recognizes organizations that implement best practices through Epic that certifies excellence in quality of care, patient outcomes, workflow efficiency, and financial performance. SCL Health is 1 of 82 health systems to be recognized with Cum Laude status, the highest designation in the program. 


2021 CHIME’s Most Wired Level 9

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) has recognized 81 healthcare organizations across the country to have earned a level 9 or 10 for ambulatory and one of 107 for acute/hospitals in its 2021 Digital Health Most Wired program. Organizations designed as 9-10 are leaders in healthcare technology that actively push the industry forward. They have implemented advanced technologies and leverage them in innovative ways to improve quality of care and patient experience, reduce costs, and provide broader patient access to healthcare services.  


2021 eHealthcare Leadership Awards

The eHealthcare Leadership Awards honor the very best websites and digital communications from a broad spectrum of healthcare organizations.
