Dr. Michael C. Vidas was born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago and spent the majority of his career in Illinois prior to moving to Colorado in the 1990s. Dr. Vidas is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Rhinologic Society. He is a general otolaryngologist with experience in consulting for the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
With the advent of endoscopic sinus surgery, he became trained in this technique in 1983. The arrival of minimally invasive sinuplasty, Dr. Vidas became an early advocator of balloon sinus surgery. He trained colleagues in Central Illinois in the technique and participated in the initial outcome trials. He even ventured to Utah to lecture to colleagues about the technique. This was somewhat of a challenge as there was not universal acceptance of this new and wonderful technology. "I particularly like the challenge of this minimally invasive technique. It is very rewarding to help patients feel better with the balloon surgery."
Dr. Vidas is particularly interested in continued care of the sinus patients with the minimally invasive balloon sinus surgery and uses techniques including balloon sinuplasty. He also hopes to continue his work in the pediatric population that he started at Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
