Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Chanin received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He earned his medical degree and completed residency training in internal medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, before moving to New York City where he completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology.
Dr. Chanin decided to become a cardiologist after his father was treated for atrial fibrillation, or “AFib,” while he was in medical school. He believes in partnering with his patients to help them achieve better health.
“My approach to care is to create a meaningful partnership between the patient and me. This long-term partnership should develop into a real relationship over the years. Part of my approach is to treat patients the way I would want my parents or grandparents to be treated, with mutual understanding and respect.”
Dr. Chanin is a long-time competitive swimmer and runner and finds energy in being active each day.
