Endovascular & Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR & TEVAR) are minimally invasive vascular surgery procedures used to treat aneurysms in the aorta, the body’s largest artery. When an aneurysm of the aorta develops, a vascular surgeon inserts a stent graft to reinforce the aneurysm to prevent it from bursting, which can be fatal.

Today, EVAR and TEVAR have become the preferred treatment to treat aortic pathologies. Benefits have included:

  • Decreased morbidity compared to open surgery
  • Avoidance of thoracic incisions
  • Decreased blood loss
  • Decreased end-organ ischemia

Program Information

Saint Joseph Hospital is one of the most experienced teams for the surgical treatment of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA) and specializes in advanced open and endovascular repair. One of the more recent developments in the vascular surgery program is the use of fenestrated endografts, which utilize a 3D model of a patient’s aorta and creates a graft made especially for a patient’s anatomy. Saint Joseph Hospital is the only medical center in Colorado utilizing this innovative technology.
