The St. Vincent Healthcare Pediatric and  Emergency Department teams just finished redesigning patient rooms to create a calming and healing environment for our young patients and their families.

“We have transformed two patient rooms to be pediatric-friendly with different themes,” shared, Lilly Solares, RN and Pediatric Educator at St Vincent. "Creating these environments can have a number of different benefits shown through studies at pediatric hospitals.  It allows our youngest patients be more comfortable, decreases anxiety and allows our providers to break down some of those barriers when the families first come to the Emergency Department. We have heard that the adults enjoy them too!

“We know it can be a very stressful time for kids when they come in and we want to make them and their parents feel more at ease,” shared Josh Bunz, Manager of the Emergency Department. “Having this artwork up, and through the additional smaller things we are doing to make our ED more pediatric-friendly, will really help with our continuum of care  and let our patients know that they will be safe and well cared for while they are with us.”

A big thank you to the teams involved in this project and the St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation for supporting this creative way to care for our community.
