Intermountain Healthcare holds inaugural Rocky Mountain Heart Institute Symposium

On September 15, the inaugural Rocky Mountain Heart Institute Symposium was held at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver. Led by Cardiovascular Medical Directors and Cardiologists, Dr. Ruchika Husa and Dr. Glenn Hirsch, our organization was pleased to formally announce the Rocky Mountain Heart Institute (RMHI), which brings together many of the region’s top providers to deliver exceptional quality care and superior outcomes.
For more than 50 years, physicians from legacy SCL Health hospitals, now Intermountain Healthcare, along with Kaiser Permanente and National Jewish, have worked together to provide world-class heart and vascular care in Denver and throughout the Rocky Mountain region. These unique and long-standing clinical partnerships and groundbreaking research resulted in the formation of RMHI, a top-tier heart and vascular program that is part of Intermountain Healthcare.
The symposium featured the Hutson Lecture Series including nationally recognized cardiovascular experts, Dr. Kelley Branch, Dr. Doug Drachman and Dr. Matthew Martinez. The topics included Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CCTA), Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Interventions, and Sports Cardiology in 2022.

Dr. Branch is an Associate Professor of Cardiology and Director of Cardiovascular Clinical Trials at the University of Washington, and Associate Director of the Clinical Trials Service Unit that facilitates large international clinical trials.
Dr. Drachman is an interventional cardiologist and the Director of Education in the Cardiology Division of Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as Teresa G. and Ferdinand F. Martignetti Endowed Chair for Cardiovascular Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital. His interests include education, research, and management of patients with advanced coronary and peripheral vascular disease.
Dr. Martinez is the Director of Atlantic Health System Sports Cardiology at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ and is a nationally recognized expert in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. He specializes in identifying and treating athletes who have underlying heart issues and serves as a cardiology consultant for professional sports including acting as the league cardiologist for Major League Soccer and team cardiologist for the New York Jets.
We’d like to thank our presenters and presenting sponsor, Roger Hutson, Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and Campaign for Caring Co-Chair, and the Hutson Endowed Fund for Cardiovascular Education and Training, that contributed to the success of our inaugural symposium.
