St. Vincent Healthcare was awarded an ‘A’ in spring 2020 from Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing St. Vincent Healthcare’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality health care to patients. This marks St. Vincent’s fourth consecutive ‘A’ grade from Leapfrog.
“The safety of our patients, associates and providers is our top priority at St. Vincent Healthcare. Earning a fourth consecutive A grade from Leapfrog reinforces how St. Vincent is continually striving to provide the safest, highest quality of care. Our associates and providers are continuously testing and evaluating our practices and procedures to ensure the very best outcomes,” said Michael Skehan, St. Vincent Healthcare COO. “I'm incredibly proud and humbled by the exceptional teamwork and skill of our entire team at St. Vincent."
St. Vincent Healthcare was one of only three hospitals in Montana and the only hospital in Billings to receive an ‘A’ grade for the spring 2020 update. St. James Healthcare in Butte, a fellow hospital of the SCL Health system, also received an ‘A’ from Leapfrog.
“‘A’ hospitals show us their leadership is protecting patients from preventable medical harm and error,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It takes genuine commitment at every level – from clinicians to administrators to the board of directors – and we congratulate the teams who have worked so hard to earn this A.”
Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
