Colorado Native has Deep Family Connections to Saint Joe’s
Denver, Colorado (Dec. 20, 2017) – SCL Health and Saint Joseph Hospital are proud to announce that Nick Lopez has been promoted to Executive Director of the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation. He had been serving as the Senior Director of Major Gifts, and before that as the Director of Major Gifts, at the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation since October 1, 2016.
"I am thrilled. The Foundation has enjoyed tremendous success this year, resulting in groundbreaking assistance for both immediate community needs and long-term, visionary investments,” said Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation Board Chair Randy Miller. “Nick hit the ground sprinting last year and has been instrumental in that success. The stability and energy that Nick brings will ensure the trajectory continues."
Lopez has more than 14 years of experience in higher-education and non-profit philanthropy including major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, board development and capital campaigns. This experience will be integral in achieving the priorities of the organization including providing web cam technology to allow families to see their infant 24/7 which is another component of the Foundation’s successful NICU expansion effort, supporting the Graduate Medical Education program Simulation Lab and funding a gestational diabetes prevention and intervention initiative. Additionally, through the Dr. W. Gerald Rainer Chair in Cardiovascular Innovation, the first-ever endowed chair at Saint Joseph Hospital, cardiovascular research and innovation will continue to be a top priority under Lopez’s leadership.
“We are so pleased to have someone of Nick’s caliber and character leading our Foundation to connect donors and supporters with the mission of the hospital.” said Saint Joseph Hospital President Jamie Smith.
Prior to joining the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation team, Nick worked at the University of Denver, the University of Chicago, and the National Hispanic Institute. Nick earned his BA in Anthropology at the University of Chicago and his MS in Public Service Management at DePaul University. Lopez is a native of Pueblo, Colorado, and is proud of his family’s connections to Saint Joe’s. His mom worked at the hospital as an orthopedics nurse for several years and his son Benjamin was born at Saint Joe’s in 2015, as will his second child this upcoming June.
