In June, more than 130 donors, caregivers, board members, physicians and associates came together to celebrate Lutheran Hospice at Collier Hospice Center’s 10th year. The hospice facility became a realized vision in 2006 when a successful campaign to fund the building created a special place for those in need of these specialized services.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, thousands of patients and their families have been shown dignity, respect and peace at a difficult time.
Those attending enjoyed touring the gardens and chapel, beautiful music provided by a harpist and guitarist, and delicious food and beverages. Ten doves were released to remember the past 10 years and to lead us forward. In closing the evening, 20 additional doves were released to recognize the 30 total years Lutheran Hospice has been serving the community with home and inpatient hospice care and to honor the hospice care team.
Hospice is rooted in Lutheran’s heritage and the Lutheran Medical Center Foundation appreciates the impact our community has made by supporting the hospice program through the years. As the inscription on the entrance of the building says, “Peace to all who enter.”
