Mom and baby experts

Our team includes a wide range of mom and baby experts including:

  • Certified nurse-midwives
  • Family medicine specialists
  • Labor and delivery nurses
  • Maternal-fetal medicine specialists
  • OB-GYNs
  • Pediatricians

We can help you find the right doctor or midwife based on what you envision for your birth experience and whether you or your baby have any special medical needs.

OB-GYNs

OB-GYNs, or obstetrician-gynecologists, are highly-trained doctors who care for women during pregnancy, childbirth and the recovery period following birth. They can also perform cesarean sections for scheduled or emergency situations.

If you have a high-risk pregnancy, your OB-GYN will work with doctors called maternal-fetal medicine specialists to make sure you and your baby get the advanced care you need.

Certified nurse-midwives

Certified nurse-midwives provide low-risk gynecologic and prenatal care, as well as deliver babies in a hospital setting. Your midwife will work closely with a doctor if you have a high-risk pregnancy, complicated labor and birth or need a C-section.

Family medicine specialists

Family practitioners are primary care doctors who treat a wide range of medical conditions. In addition to their expertise in general family health, some choose to emphasize and train in obstetrics. They can take care of you during and after your pregnancy and deliver and care for your baby.

Pediatricians

Choosing the right doctor for your baby is an important decision. You'll be visiting your baby’s physician at least six times in the first year for routine well-baby visits. While some parents know which doctor they want for their baby right away, others start the search during pregnancy. Making your decision well before your baby is born allows you to make an informed, well-considered choice.

Your delivering provider will ask you for the name of your chosen pediatrician when you’re seven or eight months pregnant. Some pediatricians will see your baby at the hospital within 24 hours of birth. If your pediatrician doesn’t do initial hospital visits, our doctors will do your baby’s exam.
