Pulmonary rehabilitation is a formatted care program that combines exercise, education and support. When all three pieces combine, you have a highly customized individual treatment program. It's one that teaches you to breathe at your highest possible level.
You will have pulmonary rehabilitation if you are living with lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or cystic fibrosis, or if you’ve had lung surgery. We can help you recover, build strength and feel better.
We will provide education on topics from oxygen management to nutrition and exercise. Our therapists will also lead you through an individual exercise program. We aim to help you gain endurance and independence. You and your family will have access to support groups. It's important to share information and get moral support with others. Having a network of support, who understand what you’re going through, will help you get back to living your life
Our goal? To get you back to feeling like yourself and living your life.

Before you begin your pulmonary rehabilitation, your care team will:
One of the first activities you will undertake is walking. Your care team will watch your heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen level. It's not important you walk far. It is important to know you are in good hands. Our care team members are experts at pulmonary rehabilitation. We often work with people with severe shortness of breath.
It is normal if you walk slowly and only for a few minutes. We encourage you to use your supplemental oxygen if you need it during this exercising. Throughout your exercising we track your oxygen level, heart rate, and blood pressure. We are dedicated to you being safe and exercising effectively.
Other skills we help you with include:
We know that how you feel is closely tied to how you're dealing with your condition. We want your mind to be as healthy as your body. We often partner with our mental health team to ensure you have the skills you need to cope with your diagnosis. Feelings like anxiety, depression and panic are common with those who have COPD. We want to make sure you have all the tools you need to get back to living your life.
