RN Mentorship Program
As the regional medical center for western Colorado and eastern Utah, St. Mary's Hospital provides valuable learning opportunities for nurses. As the only facility in the region to offer comprehensive cardio-thoracic and neurosurgical services, cancer care, labor and delivery services, a neonatal intensive care unit, Level II trauma services, air medical transport, and many other major healthcare services, St. Mary's has the opportunity to offer expert guided clinical experiences to RNs desiring skill enhancement in their specialty area.
The program consists of a three-day hands on experience with one of our expert clinicians within the desired clinical specialty. Our nursing personnel act as mentors, teachers, and professional colleagues, sharing their knowledge, experience, and dedication with less experienced licensed nurses.
- Referring facility must be designated as a rural hospital.
- Referring facility must be willing to sign the RN Mentorship contract agreement.
- Referred nurses must have at least one year of experience within the desired specialty.
RN Mentorship program requests
The referring hospital should contact the student nurse clinical placement coordinator to discuss RN Mentorship program needs. RN Mentorship program arrangements will be made based upon specialty area availability and the implementation of St. Mary’s Hospital RN Mentorship Contract between the referring facility and the hospital. Please do not contact unit clinical managers directly; clinical managers cannot arrange RN Mentorship placements and will refer all requests to the clinical placement coordinator.
