SCRUBS was founded in 2011 to engage young members of our community – between the ages of 25 and 45 – with the mission of St. Mary’s Hospital. As our community’s future philanthropic leaders, St. Mary’s SCRUBS members are engaged in learning about St. Mary’s services and programs, serving as ambassadors between the Hospital and the community.
Members are invited to behind-the- scene tours led by physicians, nurses, and service-line directors. They also participate in members-only “Let’s Get Personal” events designed to bring individuals together in a fun and informative social setting. Some of our 2016 events included a behind-the- scene tour of St. Mary’s Life Center, the Advanced Medicine Pavilion, and an underground tour of St. Mary’s tunnels as well as informative lunches with the Hospital Board of Directors and St. Mary’s Senior Leadership Team and exclusive invitations to social and fundraising events.
SCRUBS member donations primarily support the St. Mary’s Fund which benefits the hospital’s highest priority needs such as palliative care, trauma services, tele-stroke, Cancer Survivorship and medical staff education. Annual member contributions help sustain quality healthcare in our community and consist of a minimum annual donation of $250. Many members also volunteer on a variety of committees such as the St. Mary’s Ball, SURVIVE Fashion Show, or employee giving campaigns.
