Fourth year family medicine clerkships of three to four weeks are available to medical students from LCME-accredited or AOA-approved medical schools. You will be in the outpatient clinic paired with a faculty or senior resident as your preceptor. One week is spent on the teaching service, admitting and managing patients. You may also apply for a family medicine sub-internship, which involves three weeks on the teaching service and one week in the outpatient clinic. If you would like a taste of a rural practice, we may be able to incorporate time with our graduates in Collbran, Colorado, population of roughly 1,200.
Enjoy the many recreational opportunities nearby while you participate in all the educational offerings. This is a great opportunity to experience the program and see if it is a good fit for you.
We usually have housing available for a reasonable fee. Share a house on the St. Mary's Medical Center campus, just steps away from the work and overlooking a beautiful park.
Use the Family Medicine Clerkship Application document to apply. If possible, please submit applications via email. Applications and clerkship inquiries will ONLY be accepted and reviewed from March 1 - August 1 for the following academic year.
