CurriculumInternal Medicine Residents at Saint Joseph Hospital manage patients on inpatient rotations in General Internal Medicine, Critical Care, and Oncology, in addition to elective opportunities throughout Denver. Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)Saint Joseph Hospital’s Internal Medicine program is one of a handful of programs at the forefront of clinical medicine that provide each resident with their own handheld Butterfly IQ+ system. Given the broad scope of POCUS applications, Saint Joe’s has implemented a multifaceted longitudinal curriculum, including ultrasound electives that combine traditional didactic teaching with extensive hands-on training. Caritas ClinicFor more than 40 years, the Caritas Internal Medicine Clinic, Latin for charity and love, has been meeting the community's growing need for acute illness care, chronic disease management, and a proactive approach to routine prevention and screening for disease. Categorical residents will follow and manage a panel of patients in the Continuity Clinic, training in ambulatory care and preventative medicine for the underserved. Medical StudentsThe Saint Joseph Hospital General Internal Medicine Inpatient Acting-Internship is a highly sought-after 4-week rotation for visiting fourth-year medical students. Students will be assigned to a general medicine ward team and function similarly as a fellow intern during the rotation, assuming continuity primary responsibility for inpatients and taking admissions under the direct supervision of a senior resident and an attending physician.
