Rehab and developmental services for children
Our pediatric rehabilitation therapists work collaboratively across teams to support children recovering from disease or surgery or to address the health and well-being of children with developmental needs. They’re trained to understand how children communicate, comprehend and develop through each stage of life. This knowledge helps them connect with each child with patience and compassion.
Pediatric rehabilitation therapies
Our therapists work with children in the following areas:
- Pediatric physical therapy (PT) – Treating physical problems like injured tissues and movement dysfunction
- Pediatric occupational therapy (OT) – Diagnosing and helping kids increase independence, often with assistive equipment
- Pediatric speech therapy – Applying oral motor therapy and strengthening muscles around the face and mouth to support eating, swallowing and talking
Complementary therapies
Along with PT, OT and speech therapy, our specialized therapists treat a range of pediatric illnesses, injuries and developmental issues. Your child may benefit from additional therapies including:
- Feeding therapy to address swallowing difficulties
- Language and speech therapy for disorders like aphasia or Landau-Kleffner Syndrome
- Motor coordination training to improve agility and movement
- Orthopedic rehabilitation
- Pool therapy – Climate-controlled with a wheelchair lift
- Sensory integration therapy – Processing the senses (touch, taste, movement, sound, gravitational pull) to successfully engage in activities like running and playing
- Speech and voice therapy for conditions such as stuttering, voice disorders, fluency disorder or spasmodic dysphonia

High-risk infant follow-up
Some babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) may have developmental delays that are not detectable until they are a little older. We stay connected to your family to monitor, support and promote your child’s development through physical therapy and visits with a developmental pediatrician.
