Improve health in communities

Increase access to healthcare

SCL Health is committed to investing in community benefit programs and initiatives that:

Address the most critical needs of the communities we serve, especially of those who are poor and vulnerable

Support health equity

Address social determinants of health – conditions in which people live, learn, work and play – including economic stability, education, social and community environment, food security, housing, and transportation

In 2018, SCL Health contributed $242 million in community benefit and touched over 287,131 lives through a variety of programs and services.

Mental Health Trainings

We provide these trainings to the community. All classes are cost-covered.

Mental Health First Aid

Learn how to recognize signs and symptoms of the most common mental health disorders, increase your mental health literacy, and provide support to your family, friends and coworkers. Sign up for this 8-hour training and join the nearly 1.7 million Americans certified as Mental Health First Aiders.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

This two-day, interactive workshop in suicide first aid teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety.

Question, Persuade, Refer

This brief 1-hour training teaches individuals common causes of suicidal behavior, warning signs of suicide, and how to start the conversation with someone who is having suicidal thoughts.
