Surgical & Non-Surgical Treatments

Surgical Weight Loss Treatment Options

Are you looking for the latest surgical treatment options for weight loss surgery? Look no further. Lutheran Weight Loss Center delivers you the latest technology combined with physician expertise and a warm and welcoming team.

Bariatric Surgery

If exercise and diet aren’t enough for sustained weight loss, you may be eligible for bariatric surgery.

What is bariatric surgery?

Bariatric surgery involves techniques that reduce the amount of food the stomach can hold. In turn, the body absorbs fewer calories and nutrients, resulting in weight loss.

Types of Bariatric Surgery Offered

Roux en Y Gastric Bypass

Restricts food intake and decreases how food is absorbed by creating a small stomach pouch and bypassing the flow of food around the rest of the stomach to the small intestine.

Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy

Decreases stomach size and movement to restrict food intake. This procedure also is called gastric sleeve, vertical gastrectomy or gastric reduction.

Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding

Reduces food intake by placing a band around the top of the stomach, then tightening and loosening the stomach opening as needed.

Revisional Procedures

There are occasions when people have either had the wrong type of surgery for them or have not had optimal outcome from their surgery. We will evaluate, council and offer personalized revision procedures. These procedures include:

• Revision/removal of gastric banding
• Revision of gastric bypass
• Conversion of gastric band to bypass, or sleeve
• Sleeve to bypass

Non-Surgical Weight Loss Treatments

Losing weight starts with making important lifestyle choices about nutrition and exercise. If you’re ready to lose weight and keep it off for good, but you don’t want to have surgery, we can customize a weight loss program to help you meet your goals.

Lifestyle Changes

Long-term weight loss is not a diet with a beginning and an end. It’s a lifelong commitment that must go hand in hand with lifestyle changes. Our programs focus on eating in a healthy manner that promotes weight loss and long-term weight maintenance.

ReShape.™ The Non-Surgical Weight Loss Procedure.

The ReShape procedure is a new, FDA approved, non-surgical approach to weight loss that is proven to help people achieve and maintain significant weight loss. The ReShape Procedure was specifically designed for patients with a lower BMI (between 30–40). In a recent study, patients lost more than twice as much weight with ReShape than with diet and exercise alone. Most ReShape patients keep the weight off or continue to lose, even after the balloons are removed.

Reshape is designed for people who meet the following requirements:

• BMI between 30-40 with a co-morbidity* - (Use our BMI Calculator in the footer to see if you qualify.)
• No previous weight loss surgery
• Willingness to make changes to support a healthy lifestyle

With ReShape, two connected balloons filled with saline (salt water) are placed temporarily inside your stomach in an outpatient medical setting. The procedure lasts about 20 minutes while you are comfortably sedated under light anesthesia. The balloons remain in the stomach for six months, helping you lose weight and encourage healthy eating habits by taking up room in your stomach. You can still eat the healthy foods you enjoy, but the balloons act as built-in portion control, helping you feel full and less hungry.

The balloons are a weight loss jump-start, and are only part of the procedure. You also receive a full year of personalized coaching to support your success and help you make the changes that will encourage a lifetime of healthy living. ReShape combines the portion-controlling benefits of the balloons with comprehensive coaching to change your eating habits, enhance your physical fitness, and help you adopt a healthy lifestyle that supports long-term success.

ReShape may be a good weight loss option for people who do not want or do not qualify for surgery. At this time, ReShape is not currently covered by medical insurance.

New Dual Balloon Technology

Proven Weight Loss Without Surgery

In a recent study, patients lost more than twice as much weight with ReShape than with diet and exercise alone. And most patients keep the weight off or continue to lose, even after the balloons are removed.
