Our patients are so much more than patients. They are people, with families and friends, memories and dreams.

Heart and Vascular Screenings and Diagnostics

The first step to overcoming a heart or vascular condition is an accurate diagnosis. We offer a full range of advanced screening and diagnostic technology to identify your condition and begin treatment. We will make sure you understand what to expect, what tests are being conducted and why, and who is involved in your care.

How we test for heart and vein problems

We use a range of tests to screen for heart and vascular issues, including:

Stress tests

Stress tests are used to see how your heart responds to exercise or other kinds of stress. We offer four kinds of stress tests, either in our clinics or in our hospitals:

  • Metabolic exercise stress test, also known as a treadmill test or exercise test, with or without nuclear imaging
  • Medication (pharmacological) stress test with nuclear imaging
  • Stress echocardiography, also known as an ECHO test
  • Stress electrocardiography, also known as a EKG/ECG test

Heart imaging

We use heart imaging tests to look for specific conditions, assess the health of your heart or determine the cause of certain symptoms. These tests can include:

  • Chest X-ray
  • Coronary CT angiogram
  • Echocardiography or ECHO
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Noninvasive, 64-slice computerized tomography (CT)
  • Nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging

Heart rhythm monitoring

If you experience a fast, slow or irregular heartbeat, these tests can determine the reason and get you back in rhythm.

  • Holter monitor
  • Implantable loop recorder for arrhythmia
  • Tilt table test for heart disease

Vascular tests

If you experience pain or discomfort in your legs or other extremities, you may be at risk for vascular or arterial disease. We diagnose these conditions using one or more of the following tests:

  • Ankle-brachial index, or blood pressure measurement.
  • Vascular angiogram, which detects blockage and narrowing of the vessels.
  • Ultrasound, which allows our heart experts to see the size, shape and motion of your heart.
  • Pulse volume recordings (PVR) and segmental pressures, a noninvasive test in which blood pressure cuffs and an ultrasound device are used to collect information about the arterial blood flow in the arms and legs.
