What to Expect – Behavioral Health

We provide inpatient care for people with addiction and other mental health conditions. Our inpatient services include a medically supervised detoxification (detox) program and services to help stabilize patients with severe needs.

How to prepare for inpatient behavioral health care

We recommend bringing comfortable casual clothing. You can bring alcohol-free toiletries, such as shampoo, soap and toothpaste, or we can provide them.

Please leave the following items at home or store them in our safe during your stay with us:

• Credit cards
• Large sums of money
• Medications
• Valuables

We do not allow patients to bring the following items to inpatient care:

• Belts
• Cell phones
• MP3 players or other devices with cords
• Plastic bags
• Razors
• Sharp or glass items
• Shoestrings
• Suspenders
• Sweatpants or hoodies with tie strings

Residential care is available for patients with addiction and other mental health disorders. Our program requires a minimum stay of 14 days, but a longer stay may be an option if you and your care team agree that it would be beneficial.

We do not allow cell phones, personal computers or MP3/music players during residential treatment. You may use your phone to look up phone numbers, but we’ll store it in our safe during the rest of your stay.

We offer intensive outpatient programs for people with addiction and mental health conditions.

Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program (CDIOP)

CDIOP is an eight- to 12-week program that includes:

• Education
• Group therapy
• Individual case management
• Random urine drug screens to support substance-free living

We offer CDIOP sessions from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you need to miss a session, please make arrangements with your case manager. Patients who complete the program can attend a free aftercare group session every Tuesday evening for one additional year to promote lasting recovery.

Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program (BHIOP)

BHIOP is an eight-week group therapy program for patients with behavioral or emotional difficulties who don’t need the intense care we provide in our inpatient or partial hospitalization programs.

BHIOP participants meet three times per week. There are two schedule options for BHIOP:

• 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
• 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays

Patients who complete the program can attend a free monthly aftercare group session to promote lasting recovery.

Medication management is available to patients who are waiting to see a psychiatrist or another mental health professional in the community. We can assess patients with mental health conditions and get them started on an appropriate medication plan.

The first medication management appointment lasts about 90 minutes. Please bring the following:

• A list of current and past medications, including dosages, how long you took them and their impact
• A list of vitamins, herbal remedies and over-the-counter medications you’re currently taking
• Any medical notes from the past two months, including lab results

After the initial visit, follow-up appointments typically last about 30 minutes.

We can arrange outpatient services for people with a number of addiction or behavioral health conditions. We’ll coordinate these services with your primary care doctor.

We also work with employers to offer our Employee Assistance Program (EAP). If your workplace is an EAP partner, eligible employees and their family members can access free, short-term, confidential counseling and referral services.
