Jennifer Scheffler, Doctor of Nursing Practice, completed her doctorate at Walden University with summa cum laude distinction. She did her residency under the auspices of Dr. Garth Davis, a distinguished Bariatric surgeon, at the University of Texas Physicians and Memorial Hermann Hospital. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Scheffler served as an Air Traffic Controller during the Gulf War and was honored with the national defense service medal. She is board certified in Family Practice and clinically specializes in both Obesity Medicine management and Bariatric Surgery. Having a passion to bridge cultural gaps in medicine, Dr. Scheffler has also served in global healthcare designing promotora programs. She has journeyed into isolated communities in Honduras and partnered with village patronatos to establish self-sustaining healthcare modes where such access previously had been nonexistent. Domestically, Dr. Scheffler conveys an avid resolve to alter the trajectory of obesity. Believing each patient interaction to be an honor, she pledges excellence in her provision of care to those struggling with this disease. Dr. Scheffler has also written and published a systematic review on weight bias in healthcare.
