Dr. Scanlan grew up overseas; her dad was an international banker and she followed him around the world as he worked in Hong Kong, Germany, Singapore and England. She returned to the United States and received her liberal arts degree from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, and began making her way westward. She spent two years in Washington D.C. working for a health care consulting firm and went on to receive her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Scanlan completed residency training in family medicine in Denver. She is board certified in family medicine and NCQA certified in Diabetes. It was in Denver she met her husband and decided to stay. Dr. Scanlan has lived in Colorado since 1996, and she and her husband now have two children. They love to spend time in the mountains, hiking, camping and skiing.
Dr. Scanlan chose to be a family doctor because she couldn't imagine doctoring any other way, as she believes good healthcare encompasses caring, compassion and competence. Dr. Scanlan strives for all three in everything she does. She loves getting to know her patients and their families. It is a privilege for her to be present for some of the most personal moments in people's lives, and she feels lucky to have the chance to help her patients through those times.
