“The essence of a good patient-physician relationship relies upon an understanding of the patient’s goals, an ability to listen to the patient and their family, and communicate treatment options based upon current evidence-based medicine that will help them to improve their functional independence. The patient should feel well-educated in their options so that they can confidently exercise their patient autonomy to determine the recovery path that best suits them toward improved function.”
As a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist, Dr. Matsumura enjoys helping patients with physical impairments realize their potential and work toward optimization of their functioning. When she is not at work, Dr. Matsumura enjoys spending time with family, traveling, hiking and outdoor recreation.
