Texas native Michael Fitch, DO spent five years in the Navy at three different duty stations - California, Hawaii, and Indiana.
While active duty in the Navy, Dr. Fitch's first tour was as the Medical Officer with a Marine infantry battalion. His main task was to ensure the Marines were healthy and prepared to fight the next battle. That experience piqued his interest in providing excellent care for workers. Residency in Occupational Medicine from the University of Utah affirmed his decision to go into a specialty that looks to keep workers healthy and productive and working in a safe work environment.
Dr. Fitch most recently lived and worked in Salt Lake City and wanted to stay in the mountain west region. He is best suited in a location large enough to have city amenities, but small enough where you can still know your neighbor. SCL Health’s mission to “reveal and foster God’s love by improving the health of the people and communities we serve, especially the poor and vulnerable” aligns with his own philosophy.
"I am devoted to prevention and management of occupational and environmental injury, illness and disability, and promotion of health and productivity of workers, their families, and communities. I listen to the patient first. I try to talk less and listen more. I do my best to practice evidence based medicine for every situation."
Dr. Fitch enjoys a good hike, a decent round of golf, a good movie, a turkey at the bowling alley, and is looking forward to learning how to fly fish.
