Valerie Cotter, PA-C is originally from Kent, OH. She earned a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, in Allied Health Science with a certificate in Circulation Technology. She worked as a perfusionist for 10 years before going back to school to become a Physician Assistant. She received a Master’s degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks in June of 2012. Following her education, she moved back to Grand Junction, Colorado, to eventually working at St. Mary’s Medical Center — but this time as a Physician Assistant. Valerie was always fascinated by the medical field and wanted to have a career where she could directly help people.
As a Physician Assistant specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Valerie enjoys watching patients get better after having had a stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, other debilitating injuries, surgeries or illnesses - and regain functional mobility, activities of daily living, and simply being able to communicate again.
Valerie was drawn to Grand Junction, Colorado and the healthy and active lifestyle of its residents. When she is not at work, Valerie enjoys playing with her three year-old daughter, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, trail running with her dog and friends, hiking, and hanging out with her husband.
