Julie L. Barone, DO, FACS, received her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University. After completing a general surgery residency at Loyola University and a fellowship in breast surgery at Columbia St. Luke’s Roosevelt/Beth Israel Medical Center, Dr. Barone practiced in San Diego where she was the director of Comprehensive Breast Care of San Diego. She now serves as the medical director of breast system services for SCL Health and supports the breast care centers at Saint Joseph Hospital, Good Samaritan Medical Center and Lutheran Medical Center.
Dr. Barone is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Breast Surgeons and American Society of Breast Disease. She is also active locally with the Colorado Cancer Coalition, American Cancer Society, and serves on the board of directors for Sense of Security. Additionally, Dr. Barone is a principle investigator for several clinical trials, which provides her patients with the opportunity for advanced treatment options. Her clinical interests include oncoplastic procedures, minimally invasive breast procedures, nipple-sparing mastectomy, high-risk management, and genetic testing and counseling.
