Planning to give birth in one of our newly-renovated Birth Center suites? This class prepares you for a family-centered, low-intervention birth center experience with the safety net of the hospital. Offered select Sundays.
Part One of this class is completed in the comfort of your home using InJoy’s Understanding Birth eClass. Our Understanding Birth eClass is a unique online learning experience that provides comprehensive information you can trust as you prepare for your upcoming birth. In this class, you will learn all about the birth process and medical procedures through instructive video clips, animations, and interactive games....
You will also get a sense of what labor is really like as you watch several birth stories.The eClass provides you with the opportunity to write down notes and questions at your leisure to take with you to Part Two of this class: Classroom Practice. Completion of Part One is required prior to attending Part Two. During Part Two a certified childbirth educator will help you apply what you've learned as you practice holistic coping techniques including use of labor support slings, large relaxation Jacuzzi tubs, aromatherapy and more. Other topics include what to expect during labor and mom & baby care.
A 30-minute lunch break is included in this class. For your convenience, lunch may be purchased at Lutheran's La Piazza café, which offers hot and cold sandwiches, burritos, and a daily hot entrée on weekend days, as well as coffee and other beverages.
Please wear comfortable clothes to this class (we recommend that skirts and/or dresses not be worn), and bring two small pillows and a blanket or mat so you may comfortably practice positions on the floor.
Classes are limited to 5 couples. Face masks are optional as of March 15, 2023.

If you have them, please bring a yoga mat and long scarf that doesn't stretch (for rebozo practice).

Cancellation Policy:
This class is non-refundable and the Understanding Birth eClass may be accessed for at least 9 months beyond your date of registration. Class transfers are available up to 5 business days before the Part Two class. Transfers or refunds may not be available after this time.
In case of inclement weather, please call the main hospital line at 303-425-4500 one hour prior to class start time for cancellation information. Should class be cancelled or delayed, we will contact you via the email address and/or phone number you provide at registration.
